When I was younger I had a good friend who was adopted. She was very happy with her adoptive family and never really cared to find her blood parents. When she was in her late teens she developed a rare blood disorder that doctors didn’t know how to treat. A specialist asked my friend what she knew of her family history. He said that if he knew more about her family history, he may be able to find a treatment. Alas, it was too late. My friend died before she could trace her blood parents. Now I always tell people that their family medical history is of the greatest importance. It could save their lives one day!
