My Faith Journey.
Submitted by: Faith
Mumbai, IndiaI'm a hairstylist and trainer of 15 years. I've quit hair to pursue my dreams in music as a D.J. My chosen career was a big mistake I feel and the signs kept me leading to my 1st love, music. I just know this had to be it.
Like they say, rejections and failures are God’s way of protecting you and guiding you toward your true path. I am not saying there’s anything wrong with my original career; it’s just that I was not finding success in it. I am an artist at heart, and it doesn’t matter if my canvas is hair or a DJ console. The point is, I was born to be an artist, whether it’s as a hairdresser or a DJ.
My journey has been long yet beautiful. I started taking piano lessons and joined the choir in second grade. During my teenage years, I started singing karaoke, which eventually led me to the Mumbai Karaoke World Championships, where I made it to the finals two years in a row. I have hosted a couple of gigs around the city now and then. Music is in my blood, as my great grandmother, Jaddanbai, was one of India’s first classical thumri singers. My dad’s family is blessed with actors and talented singers with strong voices. I am grateful for the artistry that has been passed down through generations.
Let’s just say I feel I wasted a decade chasing the wrong dream, but I know it’s never too late to start over. My faith journey began when I was young and has given me every reason to believe that this journey is beginning anew, now that I know what my true calling is. I am grateful and blessed with each passing day, and I have no regrets about the past. I appreciate your love and prayers for my current and future faith journey. Thank you so very much for The Power.
