I had this quote written in my journal during the third year of college, when I decided I wanted to get into a consulting firm with a great package, even though, back then, I didn\u2019t even fully understand what \u201cconsulting\u201d meant.<\/p>\n
Soon, I found myself deviating from that dream, applying to every company that visited our campus. As a marketing student, I blindly followed the crowd, applying mostly for sales roles. Each time I reached the final round and failed, the rejection stung a little deeper.<\/p>\n
One day, out of desperation, I reached out to a senior for a referral. He said there were no openings but would let me know if anything came up. Months passed, and then one random morning, he called: \u201cThere\u2019s a boring, manual internship available. It pays.\u201d I said yes. It was a consulting company.<\/p>\n
I worked hard for three months, hoping for a PPO, but there was no sign of one. Then came another referral with the same company but a different team. I gave it my all, but once again, failed. My friends were all getting placed. I felt worthless.<\/p>\n
Just when I thought I had no strength left, the company called again. A second chance. With nothing left to lose, I gave the interview calmly, without desperation.<\/p>\n
And I finally got my dream job.<\/p>\n
