I grew up in a single-parent family, where my mum didn\u2019t drive. I quickly learned how vital cars are, not just for getting around but for access to basic needs like food, education, and sports. As a child, I watched the world of cars and transport with respect and awe. Today, I make sure my own children never miss out on the opportunities I did not have, ensuring they always have access to sports, services, and everything they need.<\/p>\n
Through many ups and downs, including being homeless multiple times, one thing has always stayed constant: the importance of reliable transportation. I am not materialistic, but cars have always symbolized independence and opportunity to me. For the past year, I have leased a car, which is essential for my work as a nurse and for my studies. My love for my car even merges with my passion for the rugby league. For every home game, my 7 year old and I drive an hour to watch our beloved Parramatta Eels.<\/p>\n
Recently, something extraordinary happened. I entered a raffle competition through the junior Parramatta Eels, where I had a one in six chance to win a new Subaru Impreza. I only purchased three tickets, and the promoter drawing the winner happened to be named James, just like my son.<\/p>\n
Amazingly, I won a corporate experience with a chance to win a car. I was most excited about the opportunity to be on the field where my Eels play, not even focused on winning the car. When others asked, “What will you do if you win the car?” I replied, “Drive it!” while others said they would sell theirs.<\/p>\n
Standing on the field, clutching the yellow key, I was overwhelmed with joy. I won the car, and the crowd applauded with a fireworks display to celebrate. It was so surreal. When I picked up my new car a week later, I cried, overwhelmed with gratitude for this blessing.<\/p>\n
I have never had a lot of money, yet years ago, my grandfather gifted me some, which I saved carefully. Instead of spending it all, I used it to give back to my family, booking a cruise for my sister and nieces so they could experience something they could not afford. It was an act of love and gratitude. Perhaps, in the spirit of giving, the Universe gave back to me.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m incredibly thankful for the gifts of life, love, and opportunity. My Subaru is more than just a car. It\u2019s a symbol of everything I\u2019ve been through and all I\u2019ve achieved.
