My husband and I first met in 7th grade; I had an instant crush on him. He and my brothers were good friends, but he hardly noticed me until he came to my graduation from high school. After the ceremony, we sat and talked for hours. When he went home, he told his parents that he was going to marry me. After dating for two years, we did marry and were married for almost 47 years before he passed away due to complications from a double lung transplant. I was devastated, as was our adult daughter, our whole extended family, and the many friends who loved him dearly.<\/p>\n
After my husband’s passing, I needed something to help me, so I rediscovered the lessons from The Secret. I have decided to live a life filled with positivity and love. I believe that what we think and feel is returned to us. Because I want to live a long, happy, healthy, and prosperous life, it is now my routine to spend time every morning when I first wake up to meditate, reflect on all of the blessings in my life, and write a gratitude list. I try to keep this positivity and gratefulness with me throughout the day.<\/p>\n
The other morning, while meditating and journalling, I was feeling very emotional and realized it had been five months to the day since my husband’s passing. I had written that I hoped he was proud of the efforts that I was making to become a better woman, mother, and friend and that I was doing my best to care for our beautiful home. I cried a little and finished writing my gratitude list. I then opened the daily readings from Al-Anon. The first one I read said, “Be still and know that I am with you.” I believe that my husband, God, and the Universe heard me and sent this message to me. I am so grateful for this message. It has lifted me up every moment since I read it and taught me a new lesson: take the time to be still so that you can really listen and receive.<\/p>\n
