I have been interested in getting solar for our home. We had built an addition that increased the size of our home substantially. Our electric bills were pretty low due to high efficiency air-conditioning and thermal windows but I also knew the local electric company was getting ready to raise rates.<\/p>\n
A company we were working with added solar to their offerings. We had a quote done. My husband and I wanted to do it. We received the quote, some obstacles came up and we never signed. However,\u00a0I kept thinking we would get solar and I kept thinking we would get it soon. I kept saying “Thank you that we now have solar.”<\/p>\n
Fast forward to three months later. The electric company raised the rates 9%. The company stated it would be raising rates another 24% 6 months from now. I reviewed our past 12 months of bills and received a new quote from the same company. Our new quote was $15,000 less. I noticed that this reflected one year of the new, high efficiency air-conditioning so we didn’t need as big of a unit.<\/p>\n
God always has perfect timing. The unit will be in before the end of the year, so we get the 26% tax credit. And we will receive a cash bonus since we are buying it from a company we work with. The whole thing will cost us only about half of the first quote.<\/p>\n
