We receive many amazing stories every day at thesecret.tv, but sometimes a story comes in that hits The Secret team in the heart, filling us with gratitude. This is one of those stories.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Gratitude In Daily Life.<\/em><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\nI couldn\u2019t keep living day to day like this. How had this come to be, that a physician who was treating patients suffering from mental illness, was starting to slip into depression? I dreaded coming to work because I could not help those who had lost their health, their <\/em>livelihood, their very lives during the COVID 19 pandemic. What had seemed like an isolated event in other countries had finally hit home in the U.S., and we were all ordered to shelter in place. The news screamed out death tolls each day.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Then the unrest and rioting began and the country was on fire, literally and figuratively. My patients were suffering under this fallout and begging me to assuage their fears, to take away the hurt and pain. I was coming home with headaches every day and I thought to myself \u201cMy work is making me ill.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I was also in huge debt from my medical school student loans which seemed like Mt Everest in terms of how I was duly paying my bills every month and just existing. I was losing my passion for life and for my work.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Last week I was again looking at the news and I idly clicked on Netflix and was going to search for a good mindless movie to watch to while away the weekend. I happened to see the title \u201cThe Secret.\u201d I recalled all the hype surrounding this documentary during 2006 or so, but I was a skeptic and dismissed it as \u2018metaphysical, magical thinking, and fluff.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

But this time I decided to watch the documentary, and by the time I finished watching it, I knew I had found something that changed my life. I immediately ordered two of the other books, \u2018The Power\u2019 and \u2018The Magic,\u2019 and, as they say, my life has not been the same.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Now I wake up grateful and with a light heart I go to work and I am <\/em>happy to be working with my patients. In psychiatry, we are taught to assess for psychiatric symptoms, make a diagnosis, and treat accordingly with medications. I now ask my patients to share with me their feelings of gratitude and encourage them to reframe their situation by encouraging them to share their positive feelings about themselves and their dreams. It has made a world of difference, especially in my patients who suffer from depression and anxiety.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I no longer have crippling migraines at the end of the day and I am no longer taking any migraine medication. I wake up with gratitude, and when one has gratitude, happiness will follow.<\/em><\/p>\n

Gratitude: The Fastest Way to Turn Your Life Around<\/h2>\n

I have said it before: the fastest way to turn your life around is with gratitude, and this wonderful story exemplifies that so well. Gratitude catapults us into happiness because gratitude is our true nature, and so is happiness. Gratitude and happiness are not actually two different things; they are one and the same. When you\u2019re grateful you will be happy, and when you\u2019re happy you are automatically grateful. At the end of the day, all that any one of us wants is happiness, and the easiest, fastest way to happiness is through gratitude. Remain grateful, and you will live your whole life in happiness.<\/p>\n

Try it for yourself. Sit down right now and write out ten things you\u2019re grateful for:<\/p>\n

And notice the difference in how you feel at the end of this practice.<\/p>\n

It only takes a few minutes to write a gratitude list, but afterward your day will end up being vastly different from what it would have been. You read in the story the dramatic change that happened for the psychiatrist from gratitude. When she was in gratitude she received inspirations and ideas that helped her and her patients. And this outcome is not unique to her. If you want to receive creative insights and constructive, brilliant ideas, then align with your true nature and be grateful. You will have the entire Universe working on your behalf!<\/p>\n

You can improve your health, relationships, financial situation, mental wellbeing, and your happiness through gratitude. In fact, every single situation where gratitude is applied frees up the energy of that situation so it changes for the better. When filled with gratitude you have bestowed upon yourself the Midas touch, which means everything you touch turns into gold. It’s your secret power, your instant life-changer, and your secret weapon that you can use against any negativity that appears in your life. Too good to be true? Too simple to be effective? Sound too easy to change your whole life? These thoughts are why so few have realized the inherent power they hold within them.<\/p>\n
