The Secret<\/a> at times in my life, but I slowly forgot about using it, and started losing faith. Right now, this story is still in the making, but I trust that it’ll turn out alright since it is heading that way already!<\/p>\nBack in school, I didn’t have good skin, didn’t wear makeup, and wore plain clothes. I did have a boyfriend, but I didn’t put much makeup on and was mostly with the “normal” crowd.<\/p>\n
I was called ugly by my ex-boyfriend’s mum, and people made unkind comments about me, saying that my ex could get a better girl who was prettier. Their comments affected me, and for a long time, I believed them.<\/p>\n
It was then that I discovered The Secret! I started to believe that I was more than what they saw outside. I started to accept, and like the way, I looked in the mirror and ignored the naysayers. Slowly, I started to attract discounts on nice clothes that fit me and the likes, and got a new wardrobe. I was still myself, but my “best” self.<\/p>\n
Then, one day, my friend suggested to me that I try modeling with her. I did not take it seriously, as I thought I could not do it anyway. For a year, I never thought about it until recently. I decided to use The Secret to test it out. I read stories here about girls using The Secret to be models and I got inspired.\u00a0I said, “Well if The Secret can make some of the story writers here a model, it can also work for me!”<\/p>\n
Of course, at the start, I did not believe it myself. I thought maybe it worked for them because they were pretty, but I am not pretty enough. Then, I decided to put my fears aside and just try. At least I would not regret anything if I at least tried.<\/p>\n
Every day when I went about my chores, I would feel the feelings of being a model. You know, like even while washing the dishes, I would pretend that I was already a model, but normal, everyday life goes on as well. Models have to do chores or run errands too, don’t they? When I take the bus, I just pretend that I’m a model, going about her day off from work, dressed in normal clothes, a model doing normal things.<\/p>\n
About two weeks into this game, there was an ad in the newspaper saying that a brand was looking for a campaign girl. I entered the contest but did not even get in. I was disappointed, but it was only the first baby step. I did not even have a portfolio to give them.\u00a0I thought maybe this door didn’t open because I was meant to find a better door.<\/p>\n
Three weeks after the contest, I met an influential lady through my best friend, who used to be a model and beauty queen. We chatted, and I casually mentioned that I would like to try being a model.\u00a0She helped open doors and asked around for me. I feel really grateful for her kindness despite her busy schedule.<\/p>\n
The thing is, she lives in another city and hasn’t been here for quite a long time. She dropped by recently and left but returned again. And it was only the second time that I met her. My best friend told me about her before, but we’ve never met until now. Perfect timing!<\/p>\n
So that’s it! Whatever it is that you want to be, an astronaut, pop star, etc., even if you are not there now, maybe you can play the pretend game. You don’t necessarily have to buy things to feel like you are a pop star.\u00a0Just feel the feelings of having it, in whatever way feels good!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
