My story is about how The Secret movie helped me pursue my Master’s degree and shape my career.

Hello Universe!

I read many people’s experiences on this wonderful website, so I thought of sharing my experience as well. I am from India, and I am the only son of my parents, so I was pampered by my parents and was a much-protected child. After completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue my Master’s in the UK, so at the age of 22, for the first time, I was away from my home. It was a whole new world to me, with the culture being so different and things being totally opposite to what we find in India.

I was a very average student who was not serious about anything in life. I had a very carefree attitude because of my upbringing. I carried forward the same carefree attitude in England. I used to skip my university classes, wake up late, party, and ended up spending all my living expenses. Then, one after the other, the turmoil started to surround me. I failed in two modules, had no money left for living, and could not bother from my parents as I did not want to break their trust. My parents had immense faith in me that I would pursue my Master’s degree.

I had a desperate need for a part-time job to take care of my living expenses. To get a part-time job was a very difficult task. But somehow, through a friend, I got a part-time job as a kitchen porter in a French restaurant. I had to work 12 hours a day washing all the utensils continuously as it was a very busy restaurant. For someone like me who had parents to take care of every expense, where everything was readily available, this was the first time in my life that I had faced such a tough task. I weighed 75 kg before that job started. I lost nearly 15 kg in a month’s time after that job. This job demanded huge physical labor. Finally, I was paid £1000 for my work, and I had enough money for the next three months. So, I quit that job and began to enjoy life again.

It was in November five years ago when the UK sank into recession for the first time. After three months, I spent my £1000 so I had to get another job. I started working in a petrol station, and I was getting paid nearly £500 every month. It was a very tough job as I had to keep an eye on people who filled fuel. If they ran away without paying the fuel bill, my manager would deduct it from my wage. So, I had to be very alert. It was yet another tough job for a lazy person like me. I had to work night shifts in freezing, icy weather in the UK, and I had to travel 30 miles every day by bus. I had sort of developed a very low self-esteem, and for a protected child like me, it was very tough for me to handle all the challenges and difficulties at once. I had to work in freezing weather with some of the weirdest people as there were drunkards who came at night to the petrol station and would start being abusive.

On the academic side, I was not able to concentrate because of the part-time work, as I had to work night shifts, and I would sleep all day long. So, I failed in three modules. Things started to get worse when I got jaundiced and was not able to work or study. I was all alone in the UK, and then I started missing my family and my home very badly. I felt very isolated, but one of my flatmates would bring medicine for me.

I felt very upset and disappointed that I had failed in a few modules. I had pursued an education loan for my higher studies because all international students had to pay four times more than students from the UK and the EU. I had spent nearly £20,000 for my Master’s degree and living expenses on loan, as I did not want to bother my parents. My life had come to a stop where nothing was working for me. I was not aware of the law of attraction at that time.

I was a very optimistic individual then and even now, so I started to look for positive quotes to motivate myself. Then, by surfing through a few random web pages, I came to know about Rhonda Byrne’s movie, The Secret. As I had jaundice, I was at home on sick leave. I watched The Secret movie over and over for the next three days as many times as I could. I started to apply the principles in The Secret movie so vigorously in every aspect of my life as I was desperate to achieve my Master’s degree. My life suddenly started to take a U-turn. From where my life had stopped, I had started to experience an amazing set of events from then onward.

In the next week, I was cured and very healthy. I joined a health club where I could go swimming, use saunas, steam rooms, and a jacuzzi, and use all the heated facilities. In the freezing UK, it was a perfect treat for me as it provided me with abundant heat and saved me on my electricity and gas bills. I made an amazing set of friends with whom we played tennis and cricket and traveled around together.

I applied The Secret to achieve my most important priority in life, which was to pursue and pass my Master’s degree. Within the next month, I moved home, where two PhD students helped me work on all the modules that I had failed. They also helped me finish my dissertation, which was 18,000 words long! It has been smooth sailing for me ever since I seriously started using The Secret!
