It Just Works!

This is a story a long time coming. I first read The Secret six years ago. I was just out of technical school with no “real-life” job experience. I had been applying for work for eight months to no avail. Suddenly, I got a call for someone else about a position at a spa I wanted to work at. I called back because I didn’t want this other person to lose an opportunity because of a number mix-up. When I called to explain what had happened, the manager offered me an interview. I was nervous, but I knew this job was mine. Sure enough, I went, and I got the job!
Things were tight financially that year. Work was slow, and we didn’t have the money to buy our kids presents for Christmas. In November, I told my husband, “We will be able to buy Christmas gifts for the girls.” He looked at me like I was crazy. At the end of November, I got a call out of the blue saying that the school I attended owed me $1400!
Fast forward a few years, I had a few injuries, and there was nothing new for my line of work, so I decided I wanted to teach. So that was my new goal, and I wanted to teach massage therapy. I applied for about eight months, and I found this small technical school and applied. Three more months passed, and then the call. I interviewed, and when asked if I had teaching experience, I told her no, and she asked me why I thought I could do this job. I told her plainly, “because I can”. I got that job, too!
I worked there for several years. My husband had gotten laid off and was going to school. Our situation looked dire, with little money and our home in disrepair, plus a child with asthma. I could go on and on about how unhappy that situation was. Once finished with school, my husband started looking for work, and he hit the same block I did. He had the education but no experience. Finally, we decided he would have a good job making good pay, and we would be living in a nice home where we wanted to be. It was vague, but that is what we decided. In May of this year, he got a call about working close by, making $18 an hour. We were ecstatic! The day he went to work was the day he got fired. Our excitement turned to despair.
The next day, I told him that something better was coming. I could feel it. In June, he just happened to get a call because the woman who got his resume was curious about where he lived. That led to an interview, the problem was it was out of state, three states over! I told him, we will get you there. We did. He got the job, and within three weeks of the initial interview, he was on his way to Tennessee to work. He had gotten a good job with good pay, and the company gave him a chance to show what he could do.
We started looking for places to live. I was still on the coast, and he was in TN, and every house we had looked at had fallen through for some reason or another. On his first payday, when he was supposed to put a deposit on an apartment, the man said he had already rented it to someone else. He called me upset, and we agreed something better was around the corner, so online I went. I found a nice home that was below our budget and close to his work, and I told him to call. An hour later, he called me and told me he had secured a place for us to stay, and it was everything we wanted! Honestly, it was like magic.
No, that’s not all, the transition, which is usually a stressful, money-sucking endeavor, was as easy as breathing. There was happiness and joy. Money showed up when I needed food for the house, that wasnt part of the bill money. Like magic!
The Secret works! I am proof of that!
