The story I’m going to tell you now is not about my physical challenge but about my great life, my positively changed mind, and some amazing events that happened to me before and after I read The Secret.

Starting from the time before The Secret got to me, I was suffering from serious depression, being motionless and speechless like a stone-faced puppet. I used to come into conflict so often with my parents and was not close to my siblings as well. No one in class wanted to hang around with me, and the teachers didn’t pay much attention to me. To make matters worse, my dad was struggling with his deadly stomach cancer, and we weren’t financially well-off enough to pay for the operation. I was completely in despair, so I tried a few times to kill myself.

I lived like that for three years, and then everything started to improve. I became more motivated and decided to focus on studying and eating well. I also started to socialize more, write poems about gratitude, and enjoy every moment with my family. Additionally, my dad recovered from his illness after a successful operation. We moved to a bigger house and became closer as a family, and I felt extremely happy. However, I was unsure about what had caused such a sudden change in myself and everything around me.

During this time I was so crazy about a Canadian rocker, and I was desperate to go to her traveling show that was to be given in September. I couldn’t stop thinking of her performance, playing and singing along to her songs. I imagined every night how wild her concert would be and started removing numbers from the calendar as soon as I woke up to count how many days were left till the day. In the meantime, she appeared in my dreams from time to time and played the drum, singing at a small concert hall.

Finally, my dad allowed me to buy a ticket for her concert. I felt like I could fly, but I still did not know what made dad say yes to letting me go there. After it happened, many more unbelievable events happened in a row, and that made me curious about how it could happen.

I found the book, The Secret, and there I found the answer I had been searching for. I repeatedly read the book to figure out how it works, feeling like I had become like Aladin. After knowing the law of attraction, I literally drew so many ‘fantabulous’ things to me. For example, I went to Seattle, Portland, and Oregon to study English and the Philippines as well. Last year, I met my favorite pianist and took a picture with him. Surprisingly enough, he already knew me through his fan site and gave me his autograph. Last month, I was selected as a student who was eligible for a four-month study abroad program as I had always been hoping for.

Now I am totally convinced there’s nothing impossible in the world. Well, maybe not altering my genes, making someone come back to life again, or stuff like that. I really appreciate Ms. Bryne and all of the staff who helped her discover this magical power in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
