I used to be a negative person, always expecting the worst when things went wrong. However, after my cousin told me about The Secret and how it had transformed her life, I became interested. I read the book and started practicing its principles. While it didn’t create any dramatic changes in my life, I continued to have faith in it and used it whenever possible.

But then my baby, my little kiddo, got lost. Mani, my cat, is my best friend, and we have a certain unspoken communication that is unexplained but can only be felt.

Last month, my male cat, Banku, was killed by dogs while I was away. The pain and trauma of losing a pet are known to only a few, and I pray that no one else ever goes through it. Since then, I’ve become even more cautious about Mani’s safety and kept a close watch on her whenever she goes out.

Once, I found another kitten on the road and brought him home. As all cat owners know, cats are proud animals. Mani got upset and showed it through her behavior by not coming to me for the whole day. The next day, she did not return after her usual outings. My sister and I waited, hoping she would come back by nightfall, as that is the time when dogs start roaming the streets, and it is potentially dangerous for pet cats to be out. However, she did not return. We panicked as we saw no sign of her. We searched the whole area for three hours, including the woods in our area, but found no sign of her.

The next day was just like the previous one. It was unusual for my cat not to come when I called her. I bought the smelliest fish I could find, hoping it would tempt her out of hiding, but she still didn’t show up. To make things worse, there were other cats in the area that looked like her, so we couldn’t ask our neighbors to help look for her. Three more days went by, and there was still no sign of her.

I had started using The Secret, imagining clearly that my cat was running towards me happily, the way she runs when I get her favorite treat. She jumped into my lap. I imagined it in every possible way. A few more days passed, but there was still no sign of her.

Although I did not want to think negatively, my older habit caught me fast, and I started thinking negatively, thinking the worst. Horrible images of my cat dying, getting injured, dogs chasing her, etc., started creeping into my mind.

Then, one thought stopped me. I thought OK, let’s say she is dead, it is not going to cost me a thing to start imagining strongly, that she is alive somewhere, safe and sound. She wants to come home to me, and she finds her way home again. At times, it was too difficult, almost impossible, to control my emotions. I read through several stories on this very website of owners getting their pets, especially cats, back. Trust me, it helps, as I am sure whoever is reading this is also doing it for the same reason I did, and I hope you get your pet back.

Finally, it started coming naturally. Whenever I thought of something negative, I started imagining her playing somewhere, eating food, sitting on my lap, or playing with her favorite toy.

One day, as I came home from work, I saw a stray cat, a male cat, and it started rubbing its head on my leg. I ignored it initially, but it persisted. Then I started rubbing and stroking his head. He went a little ahead of me and purred. I stared, he purred again as if to say ‘follow me’. So, I followed him. This continued for at least another 10 minutes. I kept up with him. Finally, he led me to a place where I saw two cats in the distance. And can you believe it? One of them was my little best friend. It was inexplicable.

She ran over and jumped on me. I hugged her, tears running down my eyes. It seemed like she had just gotten lost and was not able to find her way home. She kept on purring as though she had a lot to tell me. I took her home. I also gave huge treats to the other male cat, who led me to my cutie.
