After you’ve watched The Secret and started implementing it into your life, you often realize that you’re not getting what you want. I want to clarify for you that you either are not generating the right feelings or do not know what you really want. The second point occurred to me recently, and I’m glad to have realized it on time.

My latest addition to the ‘places I want to travel’ list was a Safari. I was dying to go on one. My heart fluttered when I saw pictures of jeeps and savannahs, and I felt like I was right there in the picture, walking towards a safari house with large windows and camouflaged curtains. However, I’m not a very active person, and most of my pleasure comes out of imagining me sitting somewhere in that savana- sketching or writing about the beautiful scenery or sitting on that small veranda of the safari house looking out towards the vast sky. Note that I did not imagine any insects or animals. I expected those to be far away because I really did not wish for the complete experience after all.

What I’d like to point out first is that while it seems like my ideal ‘safari,’ it might not be yours. You might feel happiness if you continue cruising in that jeep and exploring the area, so what ‘safari’ is to me is not a safari for everyone. So when I was wishing and placing an order to the Universe to get me a safari, I didn’t quite want a safari, just those specific elements I enjoyed. But that comes later.

A month or two later, my cousin and her husband invited me and my family to Chitral, where they had recently moved to. Chitral is a beautiful valley in the northern areas of Pakistan, and I was overjoyed to have the chance to visit it. It wasn’t exactly my cup of tea as there was no sign of a ‘valley’ from my wishlist. However, enjoying and cherishing opportunities I got was on my wishlist and part of the law of attraction, so off we went.

You might have guessed the cliche that is next to come. Chitral was like a place that stepped out of my dreams and into reality. For the first day, I was confused by its perfection, and I wondered why I loved it so much when I had never imagined this to come to me. And as far as I knew, the Universe does not often go out of the way to gift you something you never asked for. You need to ask to receive it. It was on the second day that I realized that I had ‘the places I’d wished to go to’ list, and a safari clicked.

Now, you might say she wished for a safari, but she got a trip to Chitral. Heck, the law of attraction doesn’t work. But that is what I wished for, you to see. When I wished for a Safari, I wanted a perfect safari, without the hassle of the company of animals, without having to explore, without having to move around, and with people to serve me. So the law of attraction subtracted those things from the safari and gave me what was left over. In Chitral, I had a safe roof above me, a house with large windows, wooden roofs, gorgeous scenery, mountains, rivers, and a rich culture. I also got the very safari-type elements in the form of rough terrain, a jeep, and foliage.

So you see, I did not actually go on a safari, but I will soon. I enjoyed the aspects of a safari that I like beforehand, and as I prepare to experience the remaining elements that are slightly challenging for me, such as being close to animals and the intense heat, I believe they will also fall into place, allowing me to have the full safari experience.

So before you go on blaming the law of attraction for not granting your wish, you might want to look around you for the tiny bits the law of attraction gives you first because they are like small chances to prepare yourself thoroughly for the real thing and make it happen quicker. And, if you too have rushed off to your mental list of wishes, you might realize that the cherry blossoms you saw last week, although they were weak and unappealing, are a sign of your wish to travel to Japan being fulfilled or that the little cookie you ate was a sign for that large cake you want for your wedding anniversary. Find the little things and let them lead you to what you actually want.

I love how this works because what you wish for might not be something you actually enjoy because you did not consider any of the possible negative factors. So, as the Universe gives you hints about your wish, you can choose based on the feeling you get whether you would like to proceed to the real thing or drop the wish. Thank you for reading.
