Meeting Austin Mahone.
Submitted by: Sarah j
MarylandI am 15 and a "Mahomie".
I attended an Austin Mahone concert with my friend and we were determined to meet him. We arrived at 5:30 am to wait in the general admission line, wanting to secure some front row spots. We were the first in line and spent the day following his tour buses, visiting his hotel, and talking to his dancers, but we did not get to see him at all. We endured 20 degree weather for 14 hours, including the concert, which ended at midnight. When we were in line, we saw Mike, Austin’s manager, and told him about our dedication to meeting Austin. Mike informed us that Austin had seen us in a car, which made us happy, but we still did not get to meet him.
During the concert, the general admission area became too crowded, and as short individuals, my friend and I felt like we could not breathe. We decided it was not worth being in the front row if we could not even see anything or breathe, so we left to buy merchandise in hopes of winning a golden ticket to meet Austin backstage. When we reached the merchandise area, we saw Mike and Alex, Austin’s best friend. Alex seemed upset, so we approached him, asked if he was okay, and gave him a hug. Mike remembered us from the line and asked why we were no longer at the front. We explained the situation, and he empathized with us, slipping my friend a golden ticket.
Mike asked us not to scream and promised to provide more golden tickets if we met him at the exit sign after the show. Overwhelmed with emotion, my friend and I started crying on the stairs. During the concert, we enjoyed the show from the back, which was still relatively close due to the small venue. After the show, we found Mike, who escorted us to the VIP area, where we finally met Austin. We hugged him and expressed our love for his music. It was truly the best day of my life, all thanks to this unbelievable experience.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
