When I discovered and read The Secret, it came at the perfect time in my life. I was applying for a highly competitive university course, and I truly believe that the knowledge of the law of attraction (LOA) guided me through.

At first, I had interviews at two different universities and couldn’t decide between them. One was closer to home with lower tuition fees, but the other was a far better university and I loved everything about it. So, I asked the Universe (or God, if you prefer) to guide me to the best decision. I didn’t worry about it or wake up every morning wondering why I couldn’t decide; I just let it happen.

Within a few days, I started getting signs. Every time I turned on the news, there were positive stories about my preferred city and negative ones about my second choice. Whenever I was at an airport, the first city I would see on departures was my preferred city. It seemed like everything I saw had to do with that city, even the flight numbers when I was going to my interview were my family’s favorite numbers!

Despite the clear signs, I was still undecided. I had received an offer from my first choice and was waiting to hear from the other university, for which I was very likely to get an offer. So, I asked the Universe to take the decision out of my hands, and it did. Two days later, I received a surprising rejection from my second choice, despite the fact that my first choice had more than double the number of applicants, and both interviews had gone very well. I honestly couldn’t thank the Universe enough.

The next challenge was to do the exams to secure my place. So, I decided to really work hard at applying ‘The Secret’ to get my perfect grades. I wrote every day, over and over, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you, for my perfect grades,’ and forced myself to ‘feel good.’ I wrote gratitude lists and put a lot of effort into ‘feeling good.’ All the while, I was relaxed about getting into my dream university. I visualized myself walking down the streets and talking to my new friends, without really consciously doing it.

Results day came, and I didn’t get the grades I needed to get into the university. I was shocked. How could the law of attraction have failed me? Maybe it didn’t exist at all! But then the unbelievable happened: I got a place on the course at my dream university, despite being told it was impossible if I did not get the grades required. I soon realized my mistake. All the ‘effort’ and ‘force’ I was putting into my grades and constantly asking for the same thing was showing the Universe that I did not truly believe it would bring it to me. I never doubted I would get into the university; I was actually relaxed. I just asked once and happily visualized myself there, and that was what made the difference.

It took me a long time to realize, but you have to let the Universe do the work. Just ask once and stop worrying about it. Since I’ve rediscovered this fact, my life has been fantastic in every way. Even when I’m at work, every single day is an unprecedented success, even if the odds are against us. I really feel happy and grateful when I think through my gratitude lists. If I start to mentally criticize myself or others, I replace the thoughts with something like ‘peace be with you’ or ‘thank you to the Universe’.

‘The Secret’ has radically changed my life, and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
