I Saved My Data And Files Myself!
Submitted by: Tina Hall
IndonesiaA happy soul.
Let me tell you a story that took place just two days ago. I was at work when a heavy downpour of rain started, accompanied by thunder and lightning. The loud crashes of thunder and the flashes of lightning made it seem like a major storm was brewing. Suddenly, a massive thunderbolt struck the area, causing a sudden power outage that lasted for around five minutes. After the power came back on, my colleagues’ computers turned on without any problem, but mine was unresponsive. I tried to start the system, but it wouldn’t work. Not being a computer expert, I assumed it was a minor issue.
However, the IT staff came to check on my computer and said, “I think it hit your hard disk.” At that moment, I felt like I had lost my phone and was having a mini heart attack. I was worried about my data and my ongoing work files, and especially the fact that I had not backed them up yet, made the situation worse. The IT staff took my computer to be fixed, and I was left worrying about my files.
But then I remembered that I had the ultimate power to help me get through this. I calmed myself down and started thinking positively. I believed that my files were going to be all right and that they would all still be there. I felt relieved that I could continue my work with all the data stored on that hard disk. Even though it took time for the IT staff to fix it, I managed to stay calm and positive.
The next morning, I walked into my office to find out that my computer was already fixed and back in its place. I turned it on, and to my utmost relief, all of my files were still there, just as I had hoped. Now, I know that the only thing I can’t do is thank everyone enough, including you, Rhonda. It’s moments like these that make me realize how important it is to stay calm and positive, even in the face of adversity.
