I always get a parking space anywhere I go, and my kids are always so shocked every time it happens.

I could never find a parking space, so I started telling my kids in the car that we always get the best parking spots. I would say, “We’re going to get a beautiful parking space today,” and they would respond, “Yes, Mum!” Their affirmation made my belief feel more real.

One day, I drove into a car park filled with around 100 cars, with 20 other cars behind me. I kept telling them, “We are going to get a parking space, just watch!” I feel like I’m demanding it from the universe. No one was finding a space, and my heart was telling me to stop. But I waited for three minutes, and lo and behold, a little old lady in her 80s pulled out of a spot and said, “There you go, love,” while winking at me. I always wink at my kids, which might seem strange, but it’s true.

Be careful what you wish for and what you say, as it often comes true.
