“Let the miracle happen naturally.”

I had this quote written in my journal during the third year of college, when I decided I wanted to get into a consulting firm with a great package, even though, back then, I didn’t even fully understand what “consulting” meant.

Soon, I found myself deviating from that dream, applying to every company that visited our campus. As a marketing student, I blindly followed the crowd, applying mostly for sales roles. Each time I reached the final round and failed, the rejection stung a little deeper.

One day, out of desperation, I reached out to a senior for a referral. He said there were no openings but would let me know if anything came up. Months passed, and then one random morning, he called: “There’s a boring, manual internship available. It pays.” I said yes. It was a consulting company.

I worked hard for three months, hoping for a PPO, but there was no sign of one. Then came another referral with the same company but a different team. I gave it my all, but once again, failed. My friends were all getting placed. I felt worthless.

Just when I thought I had no strength left, the company called again. A second chance. With nothing left to lose, I gave the interview calmly, without desperation.

And I finally got my dream job.

So if you’re reading this, take action, be consistent, and stop chasing with panic. Your miracle will come. Just let it happen naturally.
